Who should take this course?

If you enjoy other people’s company, lead an extraordinary lifestyle and share your love of the underwater world with others, this is what teaching scuba is about. PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors and PADI Assistant Instructors are the most sought after dive professionals around the globe. Why? Because they have completed the PADI program that sets the standard for training dive professionals. If you want to transform your life and join the ranks of PADI Professionals, teaching the world to learn to dive, it will enrich your life too.

Who should take this course?

Go Pro with a PADI Instructor Development Course: The PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC) consists of two parts – the Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program. Successfully completing the AI course results in a PADI Assistant Instructor qualification. When an AI is ready to progress, attending an OWSI program allows entry into an IE to earn a full PADI Instructor rating. You will learn during this course:

  • Learn to conduct all PADI core courses
  • Present knowledge development sessions
  • Conduct in-water skill sessions and control open water dives
  • PADI Standards and Procedures for courses you can teach
  • Teach Project Aware non-diving speciality courses
  • Learn about the PADI System
  • The Business of Diving and your role as an Instructor
  • Risk Management and Diver Safety

What learning materials do you require?

Here you have two options:

  • PADI IDC Crew Pack is required
  • Register for IDC Online or through DiveSMART. There are nine interactive knowledge development sections, also register for Dive Theory Online, if you have not already completed it, or it was longer than a year ago
