Who should take this course?
Those who want to give answers and not be the one who must ask “what species of fish was that”? It is an exciting experience for anyone who is interested in marine life and its animals. Learning to recognise what is out there on the reef is fun.
This course focuses primarily on fish family identification. Once you have learnt the families and their characteristics, you can use this knowledge anywhere around the world.
What will you learn?
This course will introduce you to the most common fish families and species found in Maltese waters. Some fish look similar in shape and size, or in their markings and colouring, being able to identify them makes your dives more enjoyable.

Survey techniques and strategies to identify fish
Characteristics of local fish families and species and how to identify those
What you can do to protect aquatic life and learn about Project-AWARE
What scuba gear you will use?
Basic scuba diving equipment
Underwater slate and pencil to record what you see

Participants must be 10 years of age or older
Minimum PADI Junior Open Water Diver or equivalent from another training agency
