The Emergency First Response course is a fantastic opportunity for everyone who is involved in sport and outdoor activities. You acquire life-saving skills, which can be used not just for diving, but at home, work or play.

The training is performed in an upbeat and positive manner. It focuses on increasing rescuers willingness to act, through building confidence when faced with a medical emergency. The course is great fun, providing lots of laughter but it is serious fun!

Emergency First Response courses meet the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and first aid training requirements for the PADI Rescue Diver course and all PADI Professional ratings. This course is a prerequisite to becoming a PADI EFR Instructor.

What will you learn?

This course can be built up in different ways. Our standard EFR course includes Primary Care, Secondary Care, CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED).

Anyone wishing to integrate the Care for Children course, which deals with babies, infants and younger children, will gain knowledge and skills to deal with such emergencies.

The PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider Specialty can also be integrated into this course at a discounted price.

The following EFR courses are based on internationally recognised medical guidelines for emergency care.

  • Primary Care (CPR) – This course teaches the steps and techniques for handling life-threatening emergencies. You’ll practice eight skills for aiding patients who are not breathing, have any heartbeat, may have a spinal injury, shock or, who may have serious bleeding. Here you learn how to perform CPR and continue to monitor the patient, thus providing every possible chance of survival while waiting for emergency medical services to arrive.
  • Secondary Care (First Aid) – Sometimes medical conditions are not always life-threatening, but emergency medical services can be delayed or unavailable. The Secondary Care course teaches how to provide first aid, apply bandages and splints that ease pain and reduces the risk of further harm. You will learn to assess a variety of injuries and illnesses throughout the course.
  • CPR & AED – This course focuses on CPR training and teaching participants how to use an AED. The knowledge of learning how to use an AED can be of extreme importance, wherever you are. When workplace or governmental requirements specify this training, the CPR & AED course meets the need.
  • Care for Children – This course allows participants to learn, practice and apply emergency care skills specific to helping infants and children with medical emergencies. It’s designed to help all laypersons in dealing with and responding to emergencies involving youngsters. This course is often integrated with Primary Care (CPR) and Secondary Care (First Aid) courses.
  • EFR Refresher – CPR and first aid skills should be refreshed every 24 months to keep you up to date on new methods and guidelines. The EFR Refresher course is designed to refresh key skills and knowledge, implement any new changes and focus on confidence-building exercises.
